Fame - Reimagined!

fame

Reimagined..dont you hate that word (aleast in the context of the world of films), it basically means the studio is lazy, they spot an old hit movie, decide to remake it as its cheap and easy and then hope it cleans up at the box office.

The latest victim of this is Fame, originally a dark tale of teenage dreams and hopes at New Yorks Fame Academy back in the late 70’s (I think), it struck a chord and is still a mini classic. The media landscape has changed know and dance and drama students are ten a penny so this ones looks more like High School Musical than gritty drama..pop your leg warmers on..

Bruno out this weekend.

bruno

You’ve gotta love Sasha Baron Cohen for pushing peoples buttons and this weekend sees the release of Bruno which looks very very funny, plus its getting rave reviews…def one to keep you smiling.

Daybreakers…more bloodsucking

daybeakers

More vampire shenaningans with the forthcoming Daybreakers, interesting cast with Willem Dafoe, Sam Neil and Ethan Hawke about a bunch of bloodsuckers dealing with the fact that blood is running out and along with the humans that supply it..check it out..

American Werewolf in London set for remake..

werewolf

Looks like John Landis has sold the rights to his legendary werewolf movie “An American Werewolf In London”, which is undoubtedly one of the best werewolf movies ever made, fusing genuine scares with some exceedingly funny and gory moments..its does of course boast a groundbreaking werewolf transformation scene which might now seem a little dated but at the time was revolutinary. Throw in Jenny Agutter and you’ve got a classic..wonder what those nice people at Dimension (Remake every horror movie) Films will do..

District 9

district9

Produced under the watchful eye of Peter “Lord of the Rings” Jackson District 9 looks like it could be fun, some kind of alien lifeform has landed in what looks like South Africa, and the suspense ratchets as the situations downward spirals..I would have kept the alien hidden.

CGI Distaster Overload - 2012!

Check out this trailer for Roland Emmerich’s latest diaster pic..2012..(thats when the world is going to end!?) and its CGI madness..will it work or will it be overload..check it out.

rec-2
Hurrah I’ve found it, here’s the trailer for REC 2 in all its gory glory..if you get scared then please proceed with caution…

REC 2 - Yes its on its way!

The follow up to one of my favourite recent horror films REC, is nearly upon us..yes its REC 2! I found a really scary trailer for it online but cant post as yet so here’s a mini mini teaser in the meantime..

More to come soon!

More Horror schlock - The Final Destination!

final
I quite liked the first Final Destination, a fun gory rollercoaster (literally) ride of a film, but as the franchise progressed they kind of lost their charm, well they’re back for a “final” outing and this time its in 3D! Yes its very imaginatively called The Final Destination and it looks suitable cheesy..

P.S That bit where she got hit by the bus in the first movie was really rather good wasnt it…

UP - Pixar’s latest

up

Already the #1 movie in the US, “UP” Pixar’s latest movie was the toast of Cannes, is getting phenomenal reviews and looks like it could be fun, there’s some controversy with way its been marketed stateside as the TV ads are selling it as fun frolick whilst the reality is that its a grown up morality tale the result…families walking out with their disgruntled/bored/upset children…well there you go..
